Forest Uprising

(Closing of Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019)

Artist Studio Block9 were commissioned to create a climate emergency installation with thin the Borough to coincide with the council declaring a climate emergency, also with other Boroughs in London. 

Working with Niccy Hallifax Block9 designed and curated Forest Uprising - an illuminated sculptural light forest that rose from Leyton Sports Ground to form the epic finale experience. It was a place to grow ideas...

Visitors to Forest Uprising were invited to wander through the illuminated forest and discover art installations, watch films from the past and our possible future. People enjoyed a rolling programme of music throughout the weekend that included sounds from across the borough and around the world. There were even a few surprise guest appearances from some famous faces. The positive protests for change invited schools and residents to join in and participate in an uprising to ensure the borough is a front leader in the change for good.
