Where Do We Go From Here?
Hull UK City of Culture 2017 commissioned the award-winning Jason Bruges Studio to create a ground-breaking kinetic installation as its final major art commission for the year.
I was the overall project director for Hull 2017 on this striking multi-site installation in Hull’s Old Town. It featured special designed structures, with industrial robots at their heart, some more than 6m high. With the night-time sky and the medieval architecture of the city’s architecture as a backdrop, the robots rose, swooped, curled and reached out, accompanied by specially commissioned soundscapes, producing a new choreography of movement, light and sound.
What accompanied this piece was a marketing and creative look at arguably the most important question Where Do We Go From Here? This piece running alongside the installation was to stimulate and start the conversation, be it on an individual, local, national or international platform.
